More in the Media Center! - Quite the start to the school year, not only are there new computers for the students in the lab AND a smart board plus a smart board in the Middle School area....but because of some generous donors and a grant we also have added "clickers!" The teacher is able to create multiple choice questions on the board, the student can enter their answer on the clicker, instant results, graphs etc. The students love the interaction!

Upcoming Important Dates

New this Fall

St. Pius X School staff is constantly making sure the environment for your student is safe. In an order to help us with this issue, the school has implemented a security system this summer.

The school is now equipped with security cameras inside and outside, it monitors who enters and exits the building at all times. All doors are on an alarm system.

You are always welcome to visit! However, all visitors must enter at the main door by the flag pole, please ring the bell (once) at the main entrance and someone will assist you. All visitors please sign in at the front office to receive your visitor sticker.

Mission of the Month..
Shoes That Fit

This Mission Awareness Dress Down project, has become a wonderful tradition here at St. Pius X, that is much anticipated by the 5th grade, the sponsoring grade.
Shoes That Fit is a non-profit children’s charity that began in 1992.  They help schoolchildren in need by providing them with new shoes and clothes so they can attend school in comfort and with dignity.  Mediacom and many local businesses have proudly brought this campaign to Des Moines for the seventh year.  Last year through your generosity and that of our corporate donor, QuikTrip, we exceeded our goal and raised over $2000 to fill the need of 127 tickets for students at Holy Family School.
Once again our students want to satisfy the needs of students at Holy Family School here in Des Moines.  Many of these students are refugees and arrive without basic winter clothing. There is a tremendous need this year for new winter coats, boots and snow pants!
The 5th grade will be embracing this campaign the entire month of October with service announcements and increasing awareness of this project.  The monetary collection will take place on our dress down day, October 31. However, if you wish to make more of an impact with your child(ren) and would rather shop for needed  item(s), this can be arranged.  This is not required, however, just being offered as an option.  If you choose to shop, please return the slip you will find in your Wed. pkt to Ms. Julie Bliss or Mrs. Donna Jones to receive a need ticket.  We ask that you buy the new item(s) and attach the need ticket(s) to the item(s) on or before October 31.  The item(s) can be returned any time to the classroom and would “count” as your student’s Dress Down donation.  Otherwise our dress down day is October 31.  Please be generous.
