School Board

The St. Pius X School Board acts in an advisory capacity to the Pastor and the school administration on matters involving school policy, goals, programming, budget and tuition.  In doing so, the School Board helps provide opportunities for the growth of the Catholic community.

The School Board meets in open session on the first Thursday of each month at 6:00 pm in the school conference room.  All are welcome and encouraged to attend. School board agendas are set prior to the meeting and roughly follow the template provided here. Those requesting to speak at a School Board meeting should contact the School Board President, Greg Hayes, or the Principal, Mary Jo Kever at least five (5) days prior to the meeting date.

The School Board is always looking for committed parents and parishioners to serve on the School Board.  Volunteers are also needed to serve on School Board committees.  Please review the committees below.  Contact the Principal or a School Board member for additional information.

Committee Volunteer Opportunities

The Buildings & Grounds/Safety Committee is a parish committee lead by the Parish Facilities Manager and includes School Board representation.  The School Board member acts as a liaison between the parish and school with a two-way flow of information between the committees.  This committee meets once a month on the third Tuesday of the month in the Parish Office conference room.

The School Board Finance Committee collaborates with the school administration, Parish Business Manager and Home & School representation to research, develop and present the annual school budget for the following school year to the School Board for approval.

The School Board Policy Review Committee works with the school administration to review school policies and regulations in a cyclical manner.  The Committee may also assist in the review of the St. Pius X Catholic School Parent and Student Handbook under the direction of the Administrator.  To obtain approval, new or updated policies and regulations must be read at two separate School Board meetings and then receive a passing vote.

The School Board Personnel Committee’s purpose is to correspond with school and parish staff commemorating special events such as birthdays, Christmas, congratulations, sympathy, and Teacher/Pastor/Administrative Professionals Appreciation days.

The School Technology Committee collaborates with teachers, administration and parents to determine the technology needs of the school and methods of meeting those needs.

The Community Input/Enrollment Management Committee is responsible for promoting and advertising the school using platforms including, but not limited to, social media, direct mailings, and publication advertising.  The Committee is also responsible for administering any Parent, Teacher, or Community Satisfaction Surveys and compiling the data for School Board review and publishing the analytical data as they see fit.

The Home & School Association is the PTA of St. Pius X Catholic School.  All parents of school students are members and their participation is welcome and encouraged.  Home & School meetings occur the first Monday of each month at 7:00 pm and a School Board representative attends these meetings, acting as a liaison between the two groups.
