Unit 1 (K - 2)
Our curriculum areas include:
Religion Reading/Literature Writing Spelling Handwriting
Math Science/STEM 21st Century Skills Health/Safety
Students in K-2 focus on the 5 big reading ideas: phonemic awareness, phonics, comprehension, vocabulary enrichment, and fluency.
In Math, the focus is on counting and cardinality, geometry, operations and algebraic thinking, number and operations in base ten, measurement and date, and problem solving strategies. Subject areas are taught individually or may be integrated with other curriculum
Due to our smaller class sizes, teachers are able to work with small groups and individuals to build automaticity with reading and math skills. Teachers use formal and informal assessments as guides to help children be successful learners.
In addition our students participate weekly in technology, music, art, physical education, library and guidance classes.
